330ci which oil

In addition to the type of oil, you need to make a decision about the viscosity of the oil. In general, for warmer climates, you will want to go with 5w If you live in a climate where you experience extremely cold winters, 5w30 will be what you need. Check with your local BMW mechanic to see what they recommend for your area.

We always run 5w30 simply because the car rarely sees temperatures below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. We really appreciate it, should you choose to use these links. Thank you! Be careful when topping up or replacing your oil because you do not want to overfill the oil on your engine. If you have too much oil in your engine, you can damage your catalytic converters because the engine will send oil out of your exhaust.

To this day I burn 1-quart of oil for every 1, miles like clockwork. If you are consuming more than this, you should have your engine inspected by a mechanic or conduct an oil analysis on your next oil change to diagnose why.

At the top center of your dashboard instrument cluster is a warning light. After K miles on the odometer it's good to switch to 10W Originally Posted by Jacksbmw. OP - If your engine is showing signs of sludge deposits, which would surprise no one given your mileage and OCI, you might try running some Shell Rotella T6 5w This is a diesel oil with very high detergent levels and if you run it for a short interval like 5k miles it would clean up the deposits better than most other oils.

Then switch back to BMW 5w30 if you want. You could also try something like Liqui Moly engine flush, which would be another alternative. Personally, I'd just use the T6 for one or two fills, then go back to dealer oil at 7. The BMW oil has obviously worked well so far, but 15k between changes is just too much.

It's not true you need to change every k miles if you use recommended oil. BMW recommends Castrol full synthetic and with k on the odometer my engine doesn't burn any oil and feels nice and tight.

I think Castrol Edge Gold oil is good at least for k miles, unless you're racing. The oil holds up long term but filtering may be compromised left unchanged. There's an exception to every rule. I'm speakin in general and changing your oil at intervals that aren't rediculous, whether that means 15K miles or every miles. Both are rediculous and I wasn't telling him to change his oil under 3K miles I was giving him sarcastic remakrs hoping to get him to think about the advice he's asking as he should be able to answer is own question.

This entire thread is absolutely retarded, every time I see an oil thread I think to myself "really, another one of these threads that drag on for weeks at a time. Just change your damn oil more frequently and read your owners manual. If you don't have one buy one!! Look in the boot for a wire leading nowhere else other than to the exhaust backbox, black wire with a box in the line.

Unplug and enjoy a nicer noise from idle for free! I don't think it could reduce any torque, its just a flap to limit noise at lower rpm. Twin Turbo 5, posts months. Where is this wire in the boot? I'm assuming under the carpet, exhaust side? My i Sport Auto saloon sounds nice enough, so the valve may already be open, but if it's not, I'll happily have a more throaty exhaust.
